Secondary Schooling commences in Year 7 with the school also offering 2 alternatives for Year 11 and Year 12 students.

In Lower School (Years 7 through 10), students are required to complete studies in the core learning areas of English, Mathematics, Humanities, Science, Physical Education, Health, Information Technology and Technology & Enterprise.

We are very fortunate at Wongan Hills DHS to have specialist teachers available for all areas. Where possible, students are placed in classes according to ability levels to help maximise their learning opportunities.

In addition to these Options; students are also invited to commit to completing a Certificate qualification through a variety of TAFE and SIDE programs.

Certificate II in Building Construction pathways : Run on-site with a dedicated, professional and experienced TAFE lecturer in conjunction with the  Design and Technology Teacher.  This course sets students up to learn the skills leading to traineeships or apprenticeships in a variety of trade areas.  Students apply for the course with parent consent to be included in this specialist program each Friday.

Certificates II in Business: Students are enrolled through SIDE but are based on site at the school to complete their Certificate. SIDE Teachers support the students through online measures and face-to-face visits to the school.

Certificate II in Finance: Students learn basic accountancy and finance skills.  Students work on-line at the school site supported by SIDE Teachers.

Cert II in Creative Media: Discover more about design graphics , including tasks With employment opportunities at entry-level positions such as graphic designers working in advertising or as the foundation for further study, it’s the perfect course to get started. This course is completed online at the school with staff assistance. 

Senior Schooling

Integrated Program: This program is an opportunity to achieve WACE graduation through completion of General units for 3 days a week of face to face delivery in the classroom and 1 day a week of work placement, plus a Certificate course or for eligible students as a School-Based Traineeship. Students who complete this pathway gain the skills required to step straight into the workforce. 

SIDE: Students wishing to gain an ATAR score and complete their WACE subjects for ATAR units are able to do so through SIDE (School for Isolated & Distance Education). These students have a designated room resourced for full access to online services. They join in classes online through SABA and Moodle and have the added bonus of repeating lessons for revision at their leisure! SIDE students have access to Wongan DHS teachers for extra support and are still invited to be part of Cadets, Ethics, Student Council, Camps and Excursions and Incursions. They play an important and valued role in our school.
